Synthetic hormones such as Premarin and Provera, as demonstrated by the Women’s Health Initiative Study, have been linked to significantly increased health risks including blood clots, heart attacks and strokes. For this reason, here at Enliven Medical we recommend and prescribe bioidentical hormones, we do not use synthetic hormones. Since we prescribe bioidentical hormones we don’t see these side effects or risks typically associated with synthetic hormones. There is actually extensive research that shows a decrease in these risks when using bioidentical hormones. Evidence based medicine and in patient education is important to any medical treatment.
